Man in court after attempted armed robbery at Metford



A man is due in court today charged over the alleged attempted armed robbery of a service station in Metford two weeks ago.

Officers from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District have been investigating the incident which occurred on Metford Road at about 7.50pm on Sunday 18 April, by a man allegedly armed with a knife.

Police were told the man threatened the attendant demanding cash; however, left empty-handed.

Following inquiries, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a storage facility on Metford Road, Metford, at about 7.30pm yesterday (Monday 3 May).

He was taken to Maitland Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon (attempted).

The man, who is from Tenambit, was refused bail to appear in Maitland…
